I want to tell you all that this past weekend was outstanding!!   It was the 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500 and I was very fortunate to be in attendance. There was an extraordinary amount of activiities and pageantry leading up to Sunday’s race.   On Thursday there was the Dual Gatorade 150’s qualifiying races that were wery exciting to watch.   The results sets the starting order  for the Daytona 500.

Friday evening was the Silverado 250 for the Craftsman Truck Series.   It was a very cool night race that is always a shootout!   Then Saturday afternoon the Nationwide Series ran an exciting 300 mile race.

But Sunday was  THE 50TH DAYTONA 500!!!!!   All the past 500 winners gathered and were honored on the main stage in front of the finish line prior to the start of the race.   There was names like Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Marvin Panch, Buddy Baker, Freddy Lorenzen, David Pearson, Jeff Gordon,Geoffy Bodine, Junior Johnson, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison, the names go on and on!!!!!    I had to pinch myself, I was there with all these legends of NASCAR!!!!!

The Speedway was filled with electicity!!!!   I was sooooo excited to be a part of such a historical event, me and 250,000 of my closest red neck friends!!!!

I SURE AM!!!!!!     It is Moday February 12th and I am waiting to get on a plane at LAX heading to Yuma and I can’t wait!!!!!!!   Tomorrow I am again jumpiing on the “big bird” heading to Daytona!!!!!!   This is the 50th running of the famed race and I am going to get to attend the “Big One”.   I will be sitting at pit road exit ( Roberts Tower) for the Duel 150’s Thurs. and the Truck race Friday night.   I will see what   the scalpers have for me for the Sat. Nationwide (Busch) race and for the 500, as well!!   I will get the picks out to everyone one today so that we all can see who has who for the first segment.   I can’t wait to see the behive for 43 cars buzzing around Daytona!!   It is a sight that is unlike any other race track that I have been to and very hard to explain.  There is only one other place  close to Daytona and that is Indianapoilis……..both are ELECTRIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, good luck to all and keep an eye out for the NATIONAL GUARD/AMP/HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS #88.   It is coming to a winners circle near you…. the 2008 Sprint Cup Champion……………………JR
