Bristol Results

IMG_0900

Well folks, the Car of Tomorrow   is now actually the Car of Today!!   Get used to it ’cause it is here in full strength to stay.   It was a very exciting finish, as have been most of the races so far this season.   Kyle Busch had his hands full with Jeff Burton at the end.   I think that he was very glad that it was Jeff Burton on his tail rather than Tony Stewart or some of the other “overly aggressive” drivers!

Well here are the standings   after Bristol:   ( somebody figure out what Larry is doing, PLEASE!!!)

Atlanta Race Results

MVC-0046F

The Atlanta results are in and the standings are getting jumbled up just a bit!   It was a fairly clean race with just a few exceptions!!

The last 3 laps were test book racing.  Jimmie Johnson gave some driving lessons to Mr. Tony ” I wished he would have given me some racing room” Stewart on how to slide up a close the door!!!!!!

It appears that Larry is receiving some “inside information”, cause he continues to put it to us.   Does anybody else have some questions about how he is getting great results on every race?????

California 500

IMG_0900

Well it was another exciting weekend at LA for the Auto Club 500.   Yours truly was thoroughly chilled to the bone, both Friday night for the Craftsman Truck race and Sunday for the Nextel Cup race!!!!   It was the coldest LA race since they opened up the track in   1997.   Our gang was reduced to just Leon, Karen, and Jim this time!   It just didn’t seem the same without all the rest!!!!

The standings seem to continue to jumble up, but Larry is still leading the pack!!     So here is the standings for  week two:

Adjustments to the Daytona 500

MVC-052F

Just an update to the standings.   Jerry noted that there was a couple of changes in the “official” standings of the Daytona 500!   So I have adjusted the standings and my previous posting of the scores and standings reflect the changes.

We are getting the “New Ride” ready for its first voyage.  We are heading out to LA tomorrow and will be setting up on Thursday for the Calif 500.  Look out LA “we be stylin'”!!!

Daytona 500 2007

Jason’s Birthday

PICT1396

Today  is Jason’s 33rd birthday.   I know in my heart that it just can’t be true!   It seems that just a couple of years ago I was 33.    In fact, it was really 22 years ago that I was 33 years old!   Where did the years go?   That reminds me of the lyrics in a Bob Seger song….”Like a Rock”.

“twenty years where did they go, twenty years   I don’t know.   And sometimes late at night, oh  when I’m bathed in the firelight, I RECALL!!       I RECALL!!”

When I look in the   mirror, I recall.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JASON!

Thanksgiving

Cole and baby Hannah

The Holiday Season is rapidly approaching!

This is the third time I have attempted to write this article and that first sentence above is all that is left from all my editing.

Three days to Thanksgiving and I would like to reflect on what I am thankful for this year.   I am very thankful for my family and all the support they have given me throughout the years.

I am very thankful for the relationship with my two sons that, in the last few years, we have solidfied,( those teenage years were not easy).  I am really getting into being a grandfather, it is really cool!!   Cole has really melted my heart and has become my “buddy”.   Hannah hasn’t been able to work “her magic” on me yet, but I know it coming!

My Mom has finally seen her youngest son return home, and I know that she is glad that has happened.   I am thankful to have parents like the pair that  I have.

I have the best bunch of brothers and sister that I could ever have asked for!   I really enjoy the camraderie when we all get together.   In spite of all the bickering that went on when we were all growing up, we really do love one another these days. Will miracles never cease to happen?

Finally,  I am extremely thankful for that one special someone that only comes around once in your lifetime!   Fortunately, she came around twice in my lifetime!!!!   She was my best friend 23 years ago and we were too stupid and stubborn  to make it work.   But age and maturity has shed a whole new light on our relationship and we are committed to making it work this time.

Thank you Karen for finding me again!!

It is Fall!

P1000557The weather is starting to change here in Fresno and I just thought that I would post a picture from  our four days at Morro Bay last month.   The weather was so great that I forgot that winter is just around the corner!

With the end of fall comes the end of NASCAR racing for the year.   That depresses me greatly (everybody knows that I am a REDNECK)!!  I am gonna miss Tony Stewart,  in all his glory, not shaving for the week!   I am gonna miss the  electricity of the event, the cool Air Force, Navy, and Marine flybys!   But most of all I will miss the camraderie when we hang out and set up camp there with “the relatives”!!!

I guess that I will have to resort to watching the CRIMINALS play in the NFL!!!

COME ON DAYTONA 500!!!

PS     For those who are new to my web site, surf around and check it out.    I invite you to leave  a comment and let me know what you think!

The comments are not necessarily those of the management!!!!!!! 🙂

I have just uploaded some pictures to my photo album on this site.   This picture was taken at sunset on the beach at Morro Bay.   This particular evening  the colors were especially vibrant!

I am learning how to take really cool pictures fom my personal instructor!    I just have to remember that 2/3-1/3 thing!!   He is also my computer technician, the one who has given me my grey hair, etc., but I have forgiven him!!! 🙂

There are a few more in the photo album on my web site.   I will try to select some more really pretty photos to upload.
